NEBB is Developing Commissioning of Commercial Refrigeration Systems Guideline

The National Environmental Balancing Bureau (NEBB) announced that they are developing a publication on Commissioning of Commercial Refrigeration Systems Guideline in collaboration with RSES during a press briefing at the 2012 AHR Expo.
NEBB’s Commissioning of Commercial Refrigeration Systems Guideline will establish a uniform and systematic set of criteria for the performance of the Commissioning process when applied to refrigeration systems.
This guideline will establish the technical process of commissioning a refrigeration system and is intended to be used as an extension of NEBB’s Procedural Standard for Whole Building Systems Commissioning of New Construction. The NEBB standards and standard process are contained in the NEBB Procedural standard for Whole Building System Commissioning and Procedures and Appendices for Refrigeration are contained in this document. Contract document requirements or contractual agreements between the Owner and the NEBB Certified Firm may supersede the NEBB requirements. These NEBB procedural standards have been developed using language defined by “SHALL, SHOULD, and MAY” as it relates to the standards and procedures described in this manual. It is important to note these particular words throughout this manual and how they pertain to the NEBB standards and procedures.
This guideline is intended to cover refrigeration systems as defined by the following:
• HVAC Package or Built Up Air Conditioning Systems
o Package AC Units
o Package HP Units
o Split System AC Units
o Split System HP Units
o Multiple Evaporator Refrigeration Systems
o Variable Flow Refrigeration Systems
• Commercial Case Refrigeration Systems
• Commercial Refrigeration Systems
o Cooler 40 to 50 F
o Chill Cooler 25 to 35 F
o Holding Freezer -10 to -20 F
o Blast Freezer -40 to -50 F
• Secondary loop systems
