A Message from the NEBB President, Jeffrey Schools, on Covid-19

We are all aware of the rapidly evolving situation concerning COVID-19 throughout the world.  I want everyone to know that NEBB is actively monitoring health and industry updates as they are provided. NEBB understands that this is a highly complex situation which is likely to evolve into a "one day at a time" approach for all of us.  Please be assured that we are concerned with keeping everyone in our industry safe and healthy.
At this time, I assure you that the EFC, Board of Directors, Tiffany Suite and NEBB staff are working very hard addressing situations that arise from these unprecedented times. Along with the day-to-day challenges brought on by these circumstances, we had to work diligently with our conference team to rebook the Annual Conference and believe me, it was a huge undertaking. With that said, I now look forward to seeing everyone at the Greenbrier in August!
One of the major concerns from many is the ability to achieve your CEC’s with many areas limiting travel and the amount of people allowed in a gathering. At this time, we are dealing with other time sensitive issues such as the Annual Conference, Seminar cancellations and exam center closings. We realize that attaining the proper amount of CEC’s is a very important part of our process and we are taking this situation very seriously.  The Board will be meeting in July and we will make adjustments to our CEC policy as necessary.
It is important to monitor your health and know the symptoms of COVID-19 which can begin anywhere from 2 to 14 days after exposure. Symptoms include: fever accompanied by a sore throat, coughing/sneezing and shortness of breath in more severe cases.  If you or anyone in your family falls ill, please contact your doctor by phone immediately. Best not to leave anything to chance.
With health and safety in mind, NEBB is stressing the following measures suggested by the CDC be taken:
  • Wash your hands often. (minimum of 20 seconds)
  • Use hand sanitizer often.
  • Avoid touching your face.
  • Sanitize surfaces in areas where people congregate.
  • Avoid shaking hands & physical contact with others (especially if they are visually ill).
  • Avoid large gatherings.
  • If you are sick, we suggest you stay home and self-quarantine.
  • And above all else, stay calm and do not panic.
Check the CDC website on precautions to take and what to do if you become ill.
Again, it is very important that I reiterate that we must all stay calm and keep a level head throughout these challenging times.
Stay safe,
Jeff Schools
NEBB President
